Academy Awards atau yang lebih sering disebut sebagai Oscar bakal kembali digelar pada 27 Maret 2022 mendatang. Belum lama ini, Oscar 2022 juga telah mengumumkan deretan film dan sineas yang masuk pada 23 kategori nominasinya. Pada gelaran tahun ini, film The Power of Dog (2021) berhasil mendominasi dengan meraih total 12 nominasi.
Beberapa nominasi yang berhasil diraih oleh The Power of Dog antara lain adalah “Best Picture”, “Best Director”, “Best Actor” untuk Benedict Cumberbatch, dan masih banyak lagi. Menyusul The Power of the Dog, ada film Dune (2021) yang berhasil meraih total 10 nominasi pada gelaran Oscar 2022, termasuk untuk kategori “Best Picture”.
Sementara itu, terlepas dari berbagai kesuksesan serta promosi usai perilisannya, Spider-Man: No Way Home (2021) cuma berhasil meraih satu nominasi pada kategori “Best Visual Effects”. Meski begitu, Andrew Garfield selaku salah satu aktor yang terlibat dalam film superhero itu, justru berhasil masuk nominasi “Best Actor” berkat penampilannya dalam film musikal Tick, Tick… Boom! (2021).
